Submission Guidelines
Ichionjobutsu accepts submissions of very good to exceptional quality pre-owned Japanese-made shakuhachi for resale. Some conditions apply:
Shakuhachi from Japan
--Shakuhachi should originate from a Japanese maker. Generally the flute will carry the maker's signature hanko stamp. Sometimes acceptable flutes may not carry a maker's signature. Lengths accepted are 1.6 to 2.7. The age of the shakuhachi is not important.
Condition of the Shakuhachi
--The condition of the flute should be original, as it left the maker's hands, without bore or tuning adjustments, holes moved or re-shaped, or hole sizes changed from the original. The utaguchi insert should be complete and the lacquer in the bore should be in original condition. Jinashi flutes are accepted with an urushi lacquer sealed bore. If the flute has a relacquered bore, please explain the circumstances of the repair. Repaired flutes are acceptable if the repair is strictly professional and the flute is of the necessary quality overall. Loose joints can be repaired traditionally at cost by Ichionjobutsu if necessary, before listing a flute for resale.
Previous sales exposure
--The flute submitted should not be currently or have been recently advertised for sale elsewhere.
The Audition Process
--Flutes are considered for resale by audition. Pre-owned flutes submitted for resale will be listed if they fall into the category of very good to exceptional quality, are in excellent condition and the agreed selling price provides an attractive market value for prospective buyers.
How to Proceed
--Please call or email to introduce your flute and provide detailed photos etc. Once received and accepted by Ichionjobutsu the shakuhachi will remain in stock in Colorado pending a request from a buyer to audition the flute. It can be returned to the owner at any time if requested.
Agreement
--For each flute listed, Ichionjobutsu will source a simple agreement, signed by both David Sawyer and the owner, covering the terms of the consignment for resale.
